The Feed My Lambs Initiative
3 Apr, 2022
The Feed My Lambs initiative started during the first national covid 19 lockdown in 2020. The challenges the elderly were experiencing, especially, in the Afro Caribbean communities became evident during this difficult and uncertain time. These challenges ranged from difficulties getting to and from the supermarkets and pharmacy and getting basic support. We started with providing shopping and trips to the pharmacy sometimes with the elderly themselves and at times without them. As one need was fulfilled the elderly individuals voiced that they were having difficulties in preparing and cooking meals.
Keeping in line with the Advent health message the decision was made to offer free vegetarian or vegan meals on Sabbath and Sunday. However, the demand for meals grew so we now only offer meals on Sabbaths.
Feed My Lambs initiative's aim is to spread the love of God through meeting the needs of individuals in our community and to build lasting friendship: “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” ( Matthew 25:40).
It’s welcoming and heartwarming to see how much they appreciated the friendship and gesture but it is also rewarding to hear their testimonies of the goodness of God in their lives.
We thank God for the opportunity to share his love and our prayer is that God's name will be glorified and that others will know of the great and awesome God we serve because it is all about Jesus.
It is important that this ministry continues. However, this can only be done with your support so if you would like to donate any food item cooked or uncooked it will be gladly accepted and appreciated.
Also, we welcome working with other departments to elevate the name of Jesus.
May God Almighty give us the strength, courage and determination to do his work and to always have our lamp trimmed and burning for him. To God be the glory.
